Importance of Cleaning Soft Surfaces in Covid Times

We all hoped for a reprieve from the coronavirus this summer.  But the virus escalated. Cases increased to scary levels in many states.  Nonetheless, with fall approaching, schools are preparing for students and offices for workers.  That preparation requires deep and ongoing cleaning and disinfecting of hard and soft surfaces. Many of us never worried too much about what we could pick up from public seating but airplane travelers have long been suspicious of airline cleaning procedures. The airlines know that people will not fly unless plane interiors are cleaned and disinfected.  So now electrostatic sprayers are being used to spread a fine mist that disinfects all surfaces.  You can read more about it in this article: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/05/travel/coronavirus-airplane-cleaning.html.

Similarly, car seats should be kept as clean as possible.  The CDC website says "Normal routine cleaning with soap and water removes germs and dirt from surfaces. It lowers the risk of spreading COVID-19 infection." Since it is difficult and time-consuming to clean car seats with soap and water, (or impossible for leather seats) the easiest way to kill the virus is by using a washable seat cover like SeatSpin. Why take a chance when it is so easy to be safe?  Especially since the virus will live longer on surfaces in the colder fall and winter months. If you use ride shares like Uber and Lyft, carry along a SeatSpin and wash when you get home. None of us can predict the course the virus will take in near future, but we can take sensible precautions to help ourselves.  Stay safe and healthy out there.
